By the Numbers
¡Tré! closes Green Day's 2012 trilogy with its most melodic and ballad-heavy set, named after drummer Tré Cool. Billie Joe Armstrong wrote the lyrics and the music is credited to Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool, with Rob Cavallo co-producing. The songwriting is entirely the band's own.
The third and final album in the 2012 trilogy, ¡Tré! was released December 11, 2012. It is the most melodically accessible of the three, blending power pop with the punk energy of the earlier releases. 'Brutal Love' carries an additional composition credit for Sam Cooke due to interpolation of a Cooke melody.
