Data Insight

The SnakeDoctor Circus is a full co-write between Billy Ray Cyrus and Don Von Tress, the songwriter behind his signature 'Achy Breaky Heart.' Every published source credits the album's songs to the two of them together and lists them as co-producers, but no source breaks the writing down track by track, so individual lyric-and-music splits per song are not documented. The default authorship credit across the record is therefore the Von Tress and Cyrus partnership rather than any single writer. Don Von Tress also steps to the microphone as a featured vocalist on two tracks.

The SnakeDoctor Circus is a 2019 studio album by Billy Ray Cyrus, released May 24 on Broken Bow Records through BBR Music Group. It reunites Cyrus with Don Von Tress, the songwriter who wrote his 1992 breakthrough 'Achy Breaky Heart,' and the two are credited as co-writers and co-producers across the record. The nine songs were recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama with a veteran session cast that includes Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Spooner Oldham on piano, David Hood on bass, Will McFarlane on guitar, and Bekka Bramlett on vocals. Grammy-winning engineer Jimmy Nutt mixed the album at his NuttHouse studio, and Cyrus served as executive producer. Don Von Tress appears as a featured vocalist on 'I Think Your Time's Come' and 'Take It Easy Greazy.' The record arrived the same year Cyrus scored a massive crossover hit with his guest verse on Lil Nas X's 'Old Town Road,' though that song is not part of this album.

Every source credits the album's songs jointly to Don Von Tress and Billy Ray Cyrus, who are also credited as co-producers, so both are listed as writers on each track as the best-available attribution rather than a documented per-song split. Featured-vocal credits for Don Von Tress on tracks 5 and 8 are from the official tracklisting.
