Billy Ray Cyrus is a writer on half of Some Gave All, but not on its biggest song. 'Achy Breaky Heart,' the single that carried the album, was written by Don Von Tress, and the album's other cover, 'These Boots Are Made for Walkin',' came from Lee Hazlewood. The record was certified 9x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for nine million copies shipped domestically, with global sales estimated above 20 million, making it one of the best-selling debut albums ever. Produced by Joe Scaife and Jim Cotton, the album blends radio country with rock and pop, and Cyrus co-wrote or wrote half of its ten tracks. Four singles reached country radio, led by 'Achy Breaky Heart,' which hit number one on Hot Country Songs and number four on the Billboard Hot 100.
