The first album with an outside producer, and the change is audible while the credits stay put: Lange sharpens the arrangements and the choruses, and Angus Young, Malcolm Young and Bon Scott still write everything. It became the band's American breakthrough, and seven months after its release Scott was dead.

Highway to Hell is AC/DC's sixth studio album, released on 27 July 1979 and the first produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange rather than Vanda and Young. Ten tracks. It reached number 2 in Germany and the Netherlands, number 8 in the UK and number 17 in the US, the band's first American top twenty, and was the last album Bon Scott recorded before his death in February 1980.
