By the Numbers
Fourteen of the seventeen tracks are Jack White's, and the three that are not are the blues and folk sources the band was built on: Robert Johnson's "Stop Breaking Down", Bob Dylan's "One More Cup of Coffee" and the traditional "St. James Infirmary Blues". The credit split that runs through the whole catalogue is already here, with Jack on the lyrics and both of them on the music.
The White Stripes is the duo's self-titled debut, released in June 1999 on Sympathy for the Record Industry. Jim Diamond co-produced and engineered it. It is the rawest record they made, half blues covers and half Jack White originals, and it did not chart on release.
