Twelve of the thirteen tracks are Jack White's; the exception is "Conquest", a Corky Robbins mariachi song the band recorded with a horn section. It is the biggest budget and the widest sound the duo ever used, with Joe Chiccarelli engineering, and it did not change the writing arrangement that had held since 1999.

Icky Thump is the White Stripes' sixth and last album, released in June 2007 on Third Man and Warner Bros. It returned the band to loud blues rock after Get Behind Me Satan, reached number two in the UK and number two in the US, and was the last record before they stopped.
