The Tortured Poets Department is Taylor Swift's eleventh studio album, released April 19, 2024, through Republic Records. Announced at the 2024 Grammy Awards moments after she won Album of the Year for Midnights, the album arrived as a surprise double album, the standard 16-track version was followed hours later by a second volume, 'The Anthology,' expanding the project to 31 songs. Co-produced primarily by Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner, it continues Swift's indie-adjacent, lyrically raw direction established with Folklore and Evermore while incorporating synthesizer textures reminiscent of Midnights. The album became the fastest album ever to reach one billion streams on Spotify, debuted at number one in virtually every major market, and was one of the most commercially dominant releases of the decade.
