Evermore is the sister album to Folklore, surprise-released months later in 2020 with the same indie-folk collaborators, and Swift co-wrote all fifteen of its tracks. She built it again with Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff, while Joe Alwyn co-wrote under the name William Bowery. Guests include Haim, The National, and Bon Iver.
Evermore is Taylor Swift's ninth studio album, released as a surprise on December 11, 2020, through Republic Records, exactly 141 days after Folklore. Continuing the indie-folk aesthetic and the same creative team of Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff, and William Bowery, the album is widely considered Folklore's companion piece, exploring similar lyrical territory of heartbreak, mortality, and rural imagery but with a darker and more autumnal palette. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, making Swift the first artist in history to debut at number one with five consecutive albums. 'willow,' the lead single, debuted at number one on the Hot 100, making Swift one of only a handful of artists to accomplish that feat. The album's notable collaborations include 'no body no crime' with HAIM and 'evermore' with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. 'marjorie,' a tribute to Swift's late grandmother Marjorie Finlay, is widely considered one of the most personal songs in her catalog.
