Sia co-wrote all of We Are Born, working most closely with producer Greg Kurstin, who shaped the record's bright pop and new-wave palette and shares writing credits across much of the track list. The album also reflects her ongoing partnership with longtime collaborator Samuel Dixon, with whom she was nominated for an APRA Song of the Year. It is a more upbeat, band-driven set than the introspective electropop she would pivot to later, but the songwriting voice is unmistakably hers throughout.
Sia's fifth studio album, released June 22, 2010 on Monkey Puzzle Records and Jive Records. Produced entirely by Greg Kurstin, We Are Born marked a decisive shift toward upbeat dance-pop from her previously downtempo sound. The album won the Australian Music Prize and produced the singles 'You've Changed' and 'Clap Your Hands'. It includes a cover of Madonna's 'Oh Father' and co-writing contributions from Dan Carey, Samuel Dixon, and Lauren Flax.
