Data Insight

Colour the Small One was recorded in 2003 at Heliocentric Studios in Rye with Jimmy Hogarth producing, and it pares Sia's sound down to hushed, intimate songcraft. She co-wrote every track, sharing five of the original eleven with bassist Samuel Dixon and three with Hogarth, while Dan Carey contributed to the production and writing. Its lead single 'Breathe Me' became a cult hit after closing HBO's Six Feet Under, eclipsing the album's modest chart showing.

Sia's third studio album, released in Australia in 2004 and internationally in 2006 on Astralwerks and Go! Beat Records. Produced primarily by Samuel Dixon, the album is a continuation of her downtempo pop-soul sound and features collaborations with Beck and producer Dan Carey. Its lead single 'Breathe Me' became one of the most memorable licensed placements of the 2000s when it soundtracked the final scene of HBO's Six Feet Under in 2005, introducing Sia to a massive new audience. The international version included additional tracks not present on the Australian original.
