By the Numbers
Brian Warner, as Marilyn Manson, wrote the lyrics for this rock opera while bassist Twiggy Ramirez emerged as a primary music co-writer starting with this album, joined by keyboardist Madonna Wayne Gacy. Trent Reznor co-produced the record with Manson and Dave Ogilvie at Nothing Studios in New Orleans, also contributing Mellotron, guitars, Rhodes piano, and programming. The album is a concept record and the first installment of a trilogy with Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood, tracing a character's rise into the destructive title figure. Ramirez also co-wrote lyrics on 'Irresponsible Hate Anthem.'
Marilyn Manson's breakthrough second album, co-produced by Trent Reznor and Dave Ogilvie. A concept album structured as a trilogy, 'The Heirophant,' 'Inauguration of the Worm,' and 'Disintegrator Rising', it brought the band to mainstream attention and peaked at number three on the Billboard 200.
