Brian Warner wrote the lyrics, and Twiggy Ramirez co-wrote much of the music as composer across tracks such as 'No Reflection,' 'Slo-Mo-Tion,' and the title track. Warner co-produced the album with Chris Vrenna. Parts of the record were made in an apartment above a Downtown Los Angeles liquor store rather than a conventional studio, and Sean Beavan mixed it. It was the band's first album for Cooking Vinyl.
Marilyn Manson's eighth album, produced by Manson and Twiggy Ramirez. The first release on Manson's own Hell, etc. label, it marks a return to a darker, heavier sound after the more introspective Eat Me, Drink Me. The album includes a cover of Carly Simon's 'You're So Vain.'
