Data Insight

Blue Clear Sky spreads its writing across many hands and none of them are George Strait's. The number one title track came from a three-writer team of Bob DiPiero, John Jarrard, and Mark D. Sanders, and the album reaches from Jim Lauderdale to Mark Chesnutt as a co-writer, all of it material Strait chose rather than wrote.

Blue Clear Sky is the thirteenth studio album by George Strait, released in 1996 on MCA Nashville and produced with Tony Brown. It restored him to the top of the country chart and was certified double platinum. The title track and 'Carried Away' both reached number one, and the album included 'I Can Still Make Cheyenne,' co-written by Aaron Barker and Strait's manager Erv Woolsey. Strait wrote none of the songs, drawing on a wide spread of Nashville writers. The record kept his traditional sound intact through the mid-1990s.
