Cold's breakthrough album is a Scooter Ward solo lyric effort backed by the band writing the music collectively, including new guitarist Terry Balsamo, who replaced Kelly Hayes for this record. Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit co-produced 'She Said' and appears to have influenced the album's harder edge. Aaron Lewis of Staind delivers guest backing vocals on 'Send in the Clowns' and 'Bleed,' while Sierra Swan lends atmospheric vocals to 'No One' and 'Witch.'
Cold made their second album in Los Angeles between February and June 2000 with three producers on it, Adam Kasper, Chris Vrenna and Fred Durst. It put them on rock radio for the first time, produced four singles and went gold in the US, all of which the debut had failed to do. Sierra Swan sings on 'No One' and 'Witch,' and Aaron Lewis turns up on 'Send in the Clowns.' Scooter Ward still wrote every lyric, but the music here is credited to Cold as a band rather than to Ward alone, which is the clearest sign of how much the group had settled into itself between records.
