Howard Benson recorded Cold's third album at Bay 7 in Valley Village at the end of 2002, and Geffen released it in May 2003. It entered the Billboard chart at number three on more than 101,000 copies, the best week the band ever had, and early pressings shipped with a bonus DVD and a temporary tattoo of the band's spider logo. Rivers Cuomo co-wrote 'Stupid Girl,' the only song here Scooter Ward did not write alone; it reached number four on Mainstream Rock. It was the last album with guitarists Terry Balsamo and Kelly Hayes, and the closing track, printed in the booklet under a ruder title, runs past nineteen minutes with hidden material on the end.
