Chris Brown's debut arrived when he was sixteen and produced four Hot 100 top-15 singles, an unusually strong haul for any debut, let alone a teenager's. "Run It!" hit #1 and made Brown the first male artist since Montell Jordan in 1995 to have his debut single go straight to number one. "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)" followed at #7, "Say Goodbye" at #10, and "Gimme That (Remix)" at #15. Produced by Scott Storch, Cool & Dre, Bryan-Michael Cox, The Underdogs, Oak Felder, and Sean Garrett, the album sold over 3 million copies worldwide and achieved RIAA 4× Platinum certification. It received Grammy nominations for both Best New Artist and Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 49th Grammy Awards in 2007.
Chris Brown's self-titled debut album was released on November 29, 2005, when Brown was just 16 years old. It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and was eventually certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA. Lead single 'Run It!' reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making Brown the first male artist in 17 years to reach number one with his debut single. The album's production was handled largely by Scott Storch, Bryan-Michael Cox, and Jermaine Dupri, establishing Brown as a commercial R&B force from the outset. Featured guests include Juelz Santana, Lil Wayne, and Bow Wow.
