By the Numbers
Urban Legend widens T.I.'s circle while keeping his pen in his own hand: he wrote all his lyrics over beats from Swizz Beatz, The Neptunes, Scott Storch, Lil Jon, and Mannie Fresh. The Swizz Beatz-produced "Bring Em Out" gave him his first top-ten Hot 100 single. The album pushed him from regional trap star toward national prominence.
T.I.'s third studio album, released November 30, 2004, through Grand Hustle Records and Atlantic Records. It debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 and was certified double platinum by the RIAA. "Bring Em Out" produced by Swizz Beatz became his first top-ten Hot 100 single and remains one of his most recognized records. The album shows T.I. expanding his collaborator circle: The Neptunes produce "Freak Though" featuring Pharrell; Scott Storch produces two tracks; Lil Jon produces "Stand Up" featuring Trick Daddy, Lil Wayne, and Lil Jon himself; and Mannie Fresh produces "The Greatest" featuring Mannie Fresh. Nelly appears on the Jazze Pha-produced "Get Loose." T.I. wrote all his own lyrics throughout.
