King is T.I.'s commercial and critical peak, debuting at No. 1 with over 522,000 first-week copies. He wrote all his own lyrics, and the DJ Toomp-produced "What You Know" won the Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. Production from Just Blaze, Mannie Fresh, Swizz Beatz, and The Neptunes frames his writing, and the album arrived alongside his film ATL.
T.I.'s fourth studio album, released March 28, 2006, through Grand Hustle Records and Atlantic Records. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest rap albums ever made. "What You Know" reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. "Why You Wanna" was a top-twenty pop crossover. DJ Toomp produced the defining tracks including "What You Know" and "Bankhead," while Just Blaze produced "King Back" and "I'm Talkin' to You." Mannie Fresh produced "Front Back" featuring UGK and "Top Back." The Neptunes returned for "Goodlife / Phone Call (skit)" featuring Pharrell, Common, and Mike Epps. T.I. wrote all his own lyrics throughout the album.
