By the Numbers
Liam Howlett wrote and produced the bulk of The Day Is My Enemy, bringing in outside production from Flux Pavilion, KillSonik, and Zak H. Laycock on select tracks. The album leans on notable guest vocalists: Martina Topley-Bird sings on the title track, which also interpolates Cole Porter's 'All Through the Night,' and Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods co-wrote and performs on 'Ibiza.' Howlett shared writing duties with Keith Flint, Tim Hutton, and Nick Halkes on 'Nasty,' continuing his pattern of building tracks from samples.
The Day Is My Enemy is the 2015 sixth studio album by The Prodigy, a record blending big beat, dance-punk, and techno that was released on March 30, 2015. It marked the first time Maxim and Keith Flint actively participated in songwriting alongside producer Liam Howlett, and it was recorded between November 2010 and December 2014 at Tileyard Studios and in hotel rooms during touring. The album produced the singles "Nasty," "Wild Frontier," "Wall of Death," and "Ibiza" featuring Sleaford Mods. It reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, the band's sixth consecutive UK chart-topper, and No. 127 on the Billboard 200, and it was certified Gold in the UK for 130,764 units. Carrying a Metacritic score of 67, it drew a five-star review from Kerrang! and praise from NME as the strongest and most confident Prodigy album since The Fat of the Land.
