Liam Howlett composed and produced every track on the band's debut, handling keyboards, sampling, programming and engineering himself. The album leans heavily on sample culture: 'Charly' lifts dialogue from the 1970s British public information film 'Charley Says,' while 'Out of Space' builds on Max Romeo's 1976 reggae record 'Chase the Devil' alongside a Kool Keith line from Ultramagnetic MCs. Experience is the 1992 debut studio album by The Prodigy, a breakbeat hardcore and rave record released on XL Recordings on September 28, 1992. Liam Howlett wrote and produced the entire album, with Maxim Reality contributing vocals on one track and dancers Keith Flint and Leeroy Thornhill appearing on a live recording. It produced the singles "Charly," "Everybody in the Place," "Out of Space," "Fire/Jericho," and "Wind It Up (Rewound)." The album peaked at No. 12 on the UK Albums Chart and reached No. 5 on the UK Dance Albums chart, and it was later certified Platinum in the UK for 300,000 shipments. AllMusic gave it a full five out of five stars, and Moby credited it with reshaping his view of dance albums as cohesive artistic statements rather than collections of singles.
