Beautiful Life carries the self-made model of 50 straight through. Astley again wrote every song alone, produced the album, and played most of the instruments, with no co-writers and no covers. Beautiful Life is the eighth studio album by Rick Astley, released in July 2018 as the follow-up to his chart-topping comeback 50. Like its predecessor it is a self-made record: Astley wrote every song, produced the album, and played most of the instruments himself. The sound leans into upbeat pop with soul and gospel flavors, led by the title track. It reached number six on the UK chart, confirming that 50 was no one-off and that Astley's late-career run as a self-contained album artist was firmly established.
