By the Numbers
Are We There Yet? is the third straight self-made album from Astley, and the pattern is unchanged: he wrote every track, produced it, and played most of the instruments, with no co-writers and no covers. Coming nearly four decades after a debut written entirely for him by Stock Aitken Waterman, it shows just how complete his transformation into a self-contained album artist has become.
Are We There Yet? is the ninth studio album by Rick Astley, released in October 2023 and the third in his late-career run of self-made records. As on 50 and Beautiful Life, Astley wrote every song, produced the album, and played most of the instruments himself, recording at his home studio. The record blends upbeat pop with soul and a few reflective ballads, led by the single 'Dippin My Feet.' It reached the UK top three, continuing his run of high-charting comeback albums and underlining how fully he had become the author and architect of his own music.
