Data Insight

Bellamy writes all eleven tracks alone again. What changes is the instrumentation rather than the authorship: a pipe organ on "Megalomania", a string arrangement he wrote himself, and the Rachmaninoff-shaped piano that becomes a Muse signature. Two producers work on separate halves of the record, which is audible in the sequencing.

Origin of Symmetry is Muse's second album, released in June 2001. John Leckie and David Bottrill split the production. It widened the band's instrumentation, brought in classical influence and a church organ, and built the live reputation that carried them through the decade. "Plug In Baby" reached number 11 in the UK.
