Missy Elliott wrote her own raps and co-wrote across Da Real World, with Timbaland again producing the entire album and serving as her primary musical collaborator. The darker, harder-edged tone of the record was driven by Timbaland's production. "She's a Bitch," the lead single, reinforced Elliott's image as a confrontational, self-defined artist. The track "Crazy Feelings" features Beyoncé in an early guest appearance before her Destiny's Child breakthrough. Elliott co-wrote all sixteen tracks on the standard edition, maintaining the complete writing ownership she established on her debut.
