Miley Cyrus

Miley Ray Cyrus is an American singer, songwriter, and actress who first rose to fame as the star of the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana (2006-2011), where she performed under her real name alongside her fictional pop-star alter ego. The daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, she launched her music career on the back of the show's success, initially recording albums populated almost entirely by outside writers. Beginning with the album Bangerz (2013) and accelerating dramatically through Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015), a psychedelic record she co-wrote and co-produced entirely with Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, she evolved into a genuine songwriter and producer in her own right. Her most commercially successful post-Disney album, Plastic Hearts (2020), was co-written and co-produced alongside Andrew Wyatt and Mark Ronson, and her 2023 hit 'Flowers' was a co-written Grammy-winning achievement of personal songwriting. Cyrus has sold over 50 million records worldwide and her career represents one of the sharpest documented transitions from performed-material artist to self-authored creator in the modern pop era.
