Younger Now was a stripped-back, roots-leaning record that Miley Cyrus wrote and produced entirely with Oren Yoel, co-writing every track. After the maximalism of Bangerz and Dead Petz, it leaned into country pop and pop rock with a cleaner image. Her godmother Dolly Parton co-wrote and appears on "Rainbowland."
Cyrus's sixth studio album was written and produced entirely by Miley Cyrus and Oren Yoel, the same two-person team that had worked together on her previous full-lengths, and marked a deliberate country-pop pivot away from the psychedelia of Dead Petz. Every one of the eleven tracks carries only the two writing credits, with the exception of 'Rainbowland,' a duet with Dolly Parton that adds Parton as a co-writer. The album's clean, concentrated authorship picture is notable for an artist whose earlier catalog swung between zero and near-complete self-writing.
