Data Insight

Meet Miley Cyrus is the disc that introduced Cyrus under her own name rather than as Hannah Montana, and she co-wrote all ten of its songs. The writing and production were led by the team of Antonina Armato and Tim James, known as Rock Mafia, who built the disc around polished teen pop rock. The hit "See You Again" gave her a top ten single and set up the more self-directed records that followed.

Meet Miley Cyrus, released in June 2007 as the second disc of the double album Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus, was Miley Cyrus's first collection of material performed under her real name rather than her fictional Disney alter ego. The album was produced by Antonina Armato and Tim James, who wrote most of the tracks, though Cyrus co-wrote the fan-favorite 'See You Again' alongside them, one of her earliest documented writing credits. The vast majority of the album's nine tracks were written by outside professionals, reflecting the Disney machine's control over her creative output at this stage of her career. Despite the limited authorship involvement, the album reached number one on the Billboard 200 and produced several successful singles, cementing her status as a mainstream pop act beyond the Hannah Montana framework. The disparity between her vocal performance and her creative contribution would define the next phase of her artistic development.
