Harmony leans almost entirely on outside songwriting: ten of the twelve tracks are interpretations of pre-existing standards spanning six decades, from Ewan MacColl's 1957 folk ballad 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' to Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers' 1997 hit 'Angels.' Groban's own writing appears on only two cuts - he wrote 'Your Face' alone and co-wrote 'The Fullest' with Glen Hansard and Kirk Franklin. Bernie Herms produced and arranged the bulk of the record with the London Studio Orchestra, while Steve Jordan, Tommee Profitt, and Federico Vindver each produced a single outside track.
