Closer Songwriting Credits by Josh Groban

Closer is overwhelmingly an interpreter's album - almost every track was written by outside songwriters and handed to Josh Groban to sing, with David Foster co-producing the bulk of the record. Groban's own writing credits are limited to three co-writes: "Per te" with Marco Marinangeli and Walter Afanasieff, "Remember When It Rained" with Eric Mouquet, and "Never Let Go" with Deep Forest and Mouquet. The album leans on established European pop songwriting, pairing Italian pop writers like Mauro Malavasi and Marco Marinangeli with Los Angeles and Nashville hitmakers like Walter Afanasieff and Irish/Norwegian team Rolf Lovland and Brendan Graham. Several tracks are covers or adaptations of existing songs, including Lucio Dalla's "Caruso" and Edith Piaf's "Hymne a l'amour."
