Data Insight

Balvin takes a writing credit on all twelve tracks, and the twelve carry 81 writer credits between them, so almost none of these rooms were small. Jorgie Milliano has the widest single-hand footprint on the record: he wrote and produced "Zun Zun", "KLK", "Dónde Está Jose?" and "Si Te Vas" as the only producer on each. KEITYN works the opposite way, writing on "Bruz Wein", "PQBL" and "Noventa" but producing only the first, which is the pattern of a topline writer rather than a beatmaker. "Misterio" is the outlier at eleven writers, pulling in salsa veterans Tito Nieves and Gilberto Santa Rosa, and its instrument credits (bongos, timbales, trombone, congas) appear nowhere else on the album. The leanest track is "Dónde Está Jose?", a 59-second interlude with two names on it.

J Balvin dropped Mixteip without warning on July 17, 2025, days after his halftime set at the FIFA Club World Cup final. He told Billboard the record held songs he had been keeping on his iPod, and the ten tracks of the original release lean on the old-school reggaeton beat he came up on rather than the guest-heavy build of Rayo the year before. Two cuts break that pattern: "Misterio" hands its second half to salsa singer Gilberto Santa Rosa, and "KLK" turns into club merengue with Omega. An expanded edition in August added "Noventa" with DJ Snake and "Si Te Vas" with Jay Wheeler, and that twelve-track version is what streaming services carry now.

Frequently Asked Questions Mixteip

Is Mixteip a studio album or a mixtape?
Both labels get used. Wikipedia's J Balvin discography lists it among his studio albums, MusicBrainz files it as an album with a mixtape secondary type, and Balvin himself calls it a mixtape. He told Rolling Stone that a mixtape is a herd of ideas, a collection of songs he had kept locked away until he felt he would go mad if he did not release them.
Who wrote the songs on Mixteip?
Balvin has a writing credit on every track, working with a cast that adds up to 81 credits across the twelve songs. Jorgie Milliano wrote and produced four of them on his own. KEITYN, L.E.X.V.Z, Dani (COL) and Cromo X each turn up on more than one track. The salsa cut "Misterio" alone lists eleven writers.
How did Gilberto Santa Rosa end up on "Misterio"?
The song started as straight reggaeton. Balvin told Rolling Stone that while he was working with producers Jeremy Ayala and J Castle they heard salsa in the melody, the room went quiet, and Santa Rosa's name came up as everyone's favorite living salsa singer. Balvin said that if Santa Rosa had turned them down, the track would have stayed reggaeton.
Which songs came out before the album?
"Rio" arrived in January 2025 and "KLK" with Omega in May, both of which Billboard identified as previously released singles when the album appeared. "Noventa" with DJ Snake came out on July 2, roughly two weeks ahead of the record.
Why does the tracklist sometimes show ten songs and sometimes twelve?
The July 2025 release was ten tracks. An expanded edition in August added "Noventa" with DJ Snake and "Si Te Vas" with Jay Wheeler. MusicBrainz keeps both a worldwide ten-track release and a twelve-track one, and the longer version is what Deezer and Genius serve.
Did Mixteip chart?
It reached number 51 on the Spanish albums chart, entering at 91 and lasting two weeks. Wikipedia's J Balvin discography shows no entry for it in Belgium, France, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland or the United States, and no certification from any body.
Who mixed and mastered the record?
The work was split across several teams. Rob Kinelski and Eli Heisler mixed "Bruz Wein", "PQBL", "St. Tropez", "Rio" and "Si Te Vas", with Mike Bozzi mastering. EARCANDY mixed "Zun Zun" and "KLK". Nerd.z and Mosty handled "Uuu" and "No Te Olvido". Trevor Muzzy mixed "Misterio" and Gene Grimaldi mastered it, and DJ Snake mixed and mastered "Noventa" himself.
What does the title mean?
Mixteip is the word mixtape written the way it sounds in Spanish. Balvin told Billboard the project was about the art of putting all the music you love in one place, whether that is a sad song, a salsa or an old-school reggaeton.
Who are the guests?
Lenny Tavárez and Justin Quiles on "Zun Zun", Stormzy on "Uuu", Gilberto Santa Rosa on "Misterio", Omega on "KLK", DJ Snake on "Noventa" and Jay Wheeler on "Si Te Vas".
Data note: Discogs has no entry for Mixteip at all, so the usual extraartists route was unavailable and every per-track credit here comes from the label-supplied credits on Genius, cross-checked against MusicBrainz for the tracklist and against Deezer for durations. The album has no Wikipedia article in English or Spanish. Two editions exist: a ten-track worldwide release on July 18, 2025 and a twelve-track expanded edition from August that adds "Noventa" and "Si Te Vas". This entry follows the twelve-track version, which is what streaming services now serve. Genius dates the release July 17 while MusicBrainz and Wikipedia both give July 18.
