Two names sit on every track: José Álvaro Osorio Balvín and Alejandro Ramírez Suárez, the Medellín producer who records as Sky Rompiendo. Everyone else rotates in for a song or two. The European contingent shows up wherever the beat needs it, with Afro Bros and DJ Snake on "Amarillo", Bas van Daalen and Jasper Helderman on "Rosa" next to Diplo, and Hugo Passaquin with Wissem Larfaoui on "Negro". The steady Colombian core is small: René David Cano Rios on four tracks, Justin Rafael Quiles Rivera on three, Kevyn Mauricio Cruz Moreno on two. "Morado" is the outlier, credited to Balvín and Ramírez alone, and it charted higher than any other single off the record.

J Balvin built Colores around a single idea: ten tracks, each named for a color, each with its own video directed by Colin Tilley. Sky Rompiendo touched all ten as producer, co-producer or vocal producer, and the guest list stayed short, with Mr Eazi on "Arcoíris" and Sky stepping out front on "Verde". Takashi Murakami supplied the artwork and the flower motif that carried the whole campaign. The album won Best Urban Music Album at the 2020 Latin Grammy Awards.
