Data Insight

Double Vision is a Mick Jones and Lou Gramm album at its core. Jones is the dominant writer, penning several tracks alone ('You're All I Am,' 'Back Where You Belong,' 'I Have Waited So Long,' 'Lonely Children') and co-writing the singles with Gramm. Gramm, credited under his stage name in lyrics and his legal name Louis Grammatico in composition, writes 'Hot Blooded' and 'Spellbinder' solo and splits 'Love Has Taken Its Toll' as lyricist to Ian McDonald's music. The instrumental 'Tramontane' is a three-way Al Greenwood, McDonald, and Jones composition. Production is a Jones, McDonald, and Keith Olsen collaboration across the whole record, with Gramm singing lead throughout.

Double Vision is the second studio album by Foreigner, released on June 20, 1978 by Atlantic Records. Recorded between March and May 1978, it built on the multi-platinum success of the band's 1977 debut and pushed them further into arena-scaled hard rock. The album was produced by guitarist Mick Jones and multi-instrumentalist Ian McDonald together with Keith Olsen, the only Foreigner record Olsen co-produced. It reached number 3 on the Billboard 200 and produced the hits 'Hot Blooded' (number 3) and the title track 'Double Vision' (number 2), both on the Billboard Hot 100. Certified 7-times platinum by the RIAA, it stands with the 1982 compilation Records as Foreigner's best-selling release.
