There Is Nothing Left to Lose is the third studio album by Foo Fighters, released in November 1999 on RCA Records. It was the first on a new label after Capitol, and the first recorded at Grohl's home studio in Alexandria, Virginia, which Grohl had built specifically for the sessions. Grohl wrote all material; the album is the most melodically accessible of the first three records and the most deliberately pop-oriented, with 'Learn to Fly,' 'Breakout,' and 'Stacked Actors' among the principal tracks. 'Learn to Fly' became the band's first number-one on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and the album won the Grammy for Best Rock Album, the first of six consecutive Grammy wins in the category. The album reached number ten on the Billboard 200 and has been certified triple platinum in the United States; its softer, more studio-polished production reflected both the home recording context and a conscious decision to foreground melody over distortion in a way that expanded the band's commercial range. There Is Nothing Left to Lose stands as the beginning of Foo Fighters' commercial consolidation, the album where arena rock became the explicit target rather than a byproduct of a more underground aesthetic.
