By the Numbers
Take Me Home pushes Cher into disco but keeps her in the interpreter's seat. Bob Esty and Michele Aller wrote the title track and most of the album, with Ron Dante producing two more outside songs. Cher takes her usual single co-writing credit, here on the closing 'My Song (Too Far Gone)' with Brett and Mark Hudson, the one track on the record where her name reaches the writing column.
Take Me Home is the fourteenth solo studio album by Cher, released in 1979 and her move into disco. Produced mainly by Bob Esty, with two tracks by Ron Dante, it gave Cher a top-ten hit in the title track and reset her sound for the late-1970s dance era. As usual she sings songs written by others, here Esty and Michele Aller and a roster of outside writers, with a single co-writing credit on the closing 'My Song (Too Far Gone).' The album returned her to the charts after a quiet stretch in the mid-1970s.
