Working on a Dream was written entirely by Bruce Springsteen and produced by Brendan O'Brien, completing a loose trilogy with The Rising and Magic that the same team recorded across the 2007 to 2008 Magic Tour sessions. The album leans into bright, layered pop arrangements with the E Street Band, ranging from the eight-minute spaghetti-western narrative "Outlaw Pete" to the buoyant title track "Working on a Dream". The bonus track "The Wrestler", written for Darren Aronofsky's film, had already won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song before the record arrived. The set entered the Billboard 200 at number one, Springsteen's ninth chart-topping album in the United States.
Working on a Dream is Bruce Springsteen's sixteenth studio album, released on January 27, 2009. Produced by Brendan O'Brien, it is the third and final installment in a loose trilogy with The Rising (2002) and Magic (2007), all made with the E Street Band under O'Brien's production. 'The Wrestler,' written for and featured in Darren Aronofsky's 2008 film of the same name, won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song. All twelve standard tracks (plus the bonus track) were written solely by Springsteen.
