Backstreet's Back is the group's second international album, written and produced mainly by the Cheiron team of Max Martin and Denniz Pop, with the Backstreet Boys as performers. Band member Brian Littrell earned a writing credit, but the bulk of the material came from outside writers.

Backstreet's Back is the Backstreet Boys' second studio album, released internationally on Jive Records in August 1997 following the enormous success of their self-titled debut. The album was recorded across multiple sessions in Orlando, Stockholm, New York City, and Philadelphia between October 1996 and June 1997, with production handled by a roster of hitmakers including Max Martin, Denniz PoP, Kristian Lundin, and Mutt Lange. Writing credits across the album are almost entirely external, the group held no songwriting credits, performing material crafted by professional songwriters. Three singles drove the album's commercial run: 'Everybody (Backstreet's Back)', 'As Long as You Love Me', and 'All I Have to Give', each becoming global chart staples. The album sold approximately 10 million copies worldwide and cemented the group's position as the dominant boy band act of the late 1990s.
