Data Insight
Arcángel has a writing credit on all 18 tracks and writes "Balancéate" alone. Everything else is co-written with whoever made the beat. Light GM is on ten songs and produced every one of them, Sansary and Xnike on four each, MIKE on two. Seven of the 18 have nobody in the credits but Arcángel and Light GM, which makes Ares much more of a two-man record than the guest list suggests. The four guests write only on the track they sing on, and no outside songwriter sits anywhere in the album who did not also produce.
Arcángel said months ahead of release that his third album would carry no reggaeton, and the finished record holds to it across all 18 tracks. Bad Bunny sings on "Original", J Balvin on "Corte, Porte y Elegancia", Tory Lanez on "Victoria" and La Exce on "Pa' Morir Se Nace", and everything else is Arcángel alone over Latin trap beats. It reached number 5 on both Top Latin Albums and Latin Rhythm Albums in the United States and number 74 in Spain. It was the last album he made for Pina Records.

Frequently Asked Questions Ares
Is there any reggaeton on Ares?
No. Arcángel announced in March 2018 that the album would have none, and the 18 tracks that shipped in July are Latin trap and Latin hip hop throughout. It was a deliberate break from the sound he had built a career on.
Who produced Ares?
Light GM did most of it, with ten of the 18 tracks. Sansary and Xnike have four each, EZ Made Da Beat three, MIKE two, and LinkOn, Santo Niño and Bassbreaker one apiece. Rafael Pina was executive producer, Gaby Music mixed the record and Esteban Piñero mastered it.
How did Ares chart?
Number 5 on both Top Latin Albums and Latin Rhythm Albums, and number 74 in Spain. "Original" with Bad Bunny was the only single from it to chart, reaching 28 on Hot Latin Songs and 82 in Spain.
Data note: Per-track producer assignments come from Genius. The producer roster there matches the one in the Discogs liner-note credits and the Wikipedia infobox, and every Genius writer maps one to one onto a legal name in the Wikipedia writer table, so the credits are cross-checked rather than single-sourced. On "Un Vacilón (Young Maelo)" the writer table gives Henry D. Williams, Jimmy Valerio and Wander M. Mendez while the only stage name credited is the production group Santo Niño, so those three legal names are listed as composers without being matched to individual people. Wikipedia titles track 16 "Caribbean Blue"; Genius, Discogs and MusicBrainz all print "Caribbean Air", which is what is used here. The Wikipedia track table totals the album at 51:54, which is the running time of the next album; the infobox figure of 64:23 matches the sum of the listed track times and is used instead. Guest legal names follow the spelling already used across this site: Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, José Álvaro Osorio Balvín and Daystar Peterson, each confirmed against a MusicBrainz artist alias.
