By the Numbers
Everything I Love is a split-authorship album. Alan Jackson wrote or co-wrote five of the ten tracks, including the chart-topping 'There Goes' and the solo cuts 'Must've Had a Ball' and 'It's Time You Learned About Good-Bye,' plus 'Buicks to the Moon' and 'A House with No Curtains' with longtime partner Jim McBride. The rest come from outside pens: the number-one lead single 'Little Bitty' was written by Tom T. Hall, the title track and 'Between the Devil and Me' by Harley Allen and Carson Chamberlain, 'Walk on the Rocks' by John E. Swaim, and 'Who's Cheatin' Who' is a cover of the Charly McClain hit written by Jerry Hayes. The composer column carries legal names where they differ, so Jackson appears as Alan Eugene Jackson and Tom T. Hall as Thomas Hall.
Everything I Love is the fifth studio album by Alan Jackson, released on October 29, 1996, on Arista Nashville and produced by Keith Stegall. It kept Jackson in the neotraditional country lane that made him a star, splitting the record between his own writing and a handful of outside songs. The lead single 'Little Bitty,' written by Tom T. Hall, went to number one on the Hot Country Songs chart, and Jackson's self-written 'There Goes' also topped the chart. The album produced six charting singles in all, including the Charly McClain cover 'Who's Cheatin' Who' and the Harley Allen and Carson Chamberlain title track. It was certified triple platinum by the RIAA in August 2001, one of the biggest sellers of Jackson's mid-1990s run.
