By the Numbers
Ten of the eleven tracks carry his name and seven carry nobody else, which is a higher self-written share than almost any pop rap album of the period. The exception is "Ice Ice Baby" itself, where the writers of "Under Pressure" were added after the fact. The most ridiculed record of the decade is also one he mostly wrote.
To the Extreme came out on SBK in August 1990, spent sixteen weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 and is certified 7x platinum. "Ice Ice Baby" was the first hip hop single to top the Billboard Hot 100.
