By the Numbers
Tyler Joseph wrote every track on Regional at Best himself and self-produced the album, which the band released independently in 2011. Five of its songs, including 'Holding On to You' and 'Car Radio,' were strong enough that Joseph re-recorded them the following year for the major-label debut Vessel. The album was pulled from sale in 2012 after the band signed to Fueled by Ramen, leaving it out of print and making it a rare early showcase of Joseph's writing.
Twenty One Pilots' second self-released album, released July 8, 2011 and the last independent record before the band signed with Fueled by Ramen in 2012. Now a duo of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, the album was sold primarily at live shows. Track 2, 'Holding On to You,' carries additional co-writing credits due to a sampled interpolation (Maurice Gleaton and six other credited writers). The album was later delisted from streaming platforms at the band's request. Several tracks, including 'Guns for Hands,' 'Car Radio,' and 'Trees', were re-recorded for Vessel.
