America marked the first album where Jared and Shannon Leto shared full production duties together, effectively cutting outside producers out of the process entirely. The record leaned into political themes tied to the American cultural moment of 2018, and featured Halsey on 'Love Is Madness,' one of the very few guest appearances across the band's entire catalog.
