By the Numbers
Casablancas is the only credited writer on all nine tracks, which returns the band to the arrangement of Is This It after two albums of shared credits. Rick Rubin is the new element, and the record that won the Grammy is the one where the writing went back to one person. Nobody else appears in the writer column anywhere on it.
The New Abnormal is The Strokes' sixth album, released in April 2020 on Cult and RCA, their first in seven years. Rick Rubin produced it. It won Best Rock Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, the band's first Grammy.
