Quest for Fire was Skrillex's second studio album and his first in nearly nine years, produced in collaboration with a wide range of artists including Missy Elliott, Porter Robinson, Fred Again, Four Tet, Noisia, and Swae Lee contributing to individual tracks. The album spans 15 tracks blending house, dubstep, two-step garage, and Chicago juke into a cohesive dance-music project. It debuted at number 51 on the Billboard 200 and reached number two on the UK Dance Albums chart, and was released one day before the companion album Don't Get Too Close.
Quest for Fire is the second studio album by Skrillex, released in January 2023 on OWSLA / Atlantic and self-produced by Skrillex. The album arrived unexpectedly alongside its companion record Don't Get Too Close, with both released within days of each other as a conceptual diptych exploring different facets of Skrillex's decade-long creative evolution since Recess. The record documents his continued experiments in sound design, blending club music, hip-hop, ambient, and noise into an often disorienting and thrilling whole. Collaborations with Future, Kid Cudi, Four Tet, and others reflect the breadth of his musical relationships across a decade at the center of global bass music culture. Quest for Fire is the more aggressive and experimental half of the 2023 diptych, a statement that Skrillex remains committed to pushing sonic boundaries rather than repeating commercial formulas.
