Standing on the Shoulder of Giants is the fourth studio album by Oasis, released in February 2000 and a deliberate reinvention after the excess of Be Here Now. Recorded as founding members Bonehead and Guigsy departed, it leans into psychedelia, electronics, and looser arrangements, with Noel Gallagher handling most instruments alongside drummer Alan White. Noel wrote every song except 'Little James,' which marks the first songwriting credit for his brother Liam, a small but meaningful crack in Noel's long monopoly on the band's writing. Noel also sings lead more often than before. The album debuted at number one in the UK and was certified double platinum, beginning the band's second, more democratic phase.
