The Story

Their first two albums, Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, made them one of the biggest bands in the world, fusing swaggering rock-and-roll attitude with anthemic, Beatles-indebted songwriting. For most of their career Noel Gallagher wrote nearly every song, words and music, while Liam delivered them with a sneering, instantly recognizable voice, one of the clearest sole-songwriter dynamics in rock. The band's later albums opened up the writing to Liam, Gem Archer, and Andy Bell, a notable shift after years of total Noel authorship. After a famously combative breakup in 2009, the Gallagher brothers reunited the band in 2024.
