Heathen Chemistry is the fifth studio album by Oasis, released in July 2002 and the first to feature the settled lineup of Noel and Liam Gallagher with Gem Archer and Andy Bell. It marks a turning point in the band's writing: where Noel Gallagher had once written everything, this album shares the credits, with Liam contributing three songs and Gem Archer and Andy Bell one each. Self-produced, it is a back-to-basics rock record after the experiments of its predecessor, anchored by the number-one single 'The Hindu Times' and the ballad 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out.' Noel still wrote the most and sang several leads, but the album establishes the more democratic band that would define Oasis's final years. It was certified four-times platinum in the UK.
