Ghosts V: Together was produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross and released simultaneously with Ghosts VI: Locusts on March 26, 2020, both made available as free downloads through NIN.com during the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic. Spanning 70 minutes and 24 seconds across 9 tracks, it is the warmer and more meditative of the two 2020 Ghosts albums; critics described it as composed from "pretty, warmer ingredients" in contrast to the darker Locusts. It was Reznor and Ross's first music released under the Nine Inch Nails name since Bad Witch (2018), delivered as an act of solidarity with listeners during lockdown.
Ghosts V: Together, released for free on March 26, 2020, is the first of two companion volumes released simultaneously by Nine Inch Nails during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Together presents warm, ambient, and surprisingly consoling electronic soundscapes, offering a meditative counterpoint to its companion release Ghosts VI: Locusts. Both albums are entirely instrumental and continue the Ghosts series begun in 2008. All tracks are written and produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
