Home Before Dark is the twenty-seventh studio album by Neil Diamond, released in May 2008 on American Recordings through Columbia Records. It was his second consecutive collaboration with producer Rick Rubin, who stripped the arrangements back to Diamond's voice, acoustic guitar, and a small band augmented by David Campbell's orchestral parts. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, the first chart-topping album of Diamond's career at age sixty-seven, and it simultaneously reached number one in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. Every song was written by Diamond himself, including the lead single 'Pretty Amazing Grace' and 'Another Day (That Time Forgot),' a duet with Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks. The record extended the late-career reinvention Diamond began with 12 Songs, trading his stadium-pop sound for a spare, confessional singer-songwriter approach.
