My Chemical Romance is an American rock band formed in Newark, New Jersey in 2001, known for theatrical concept albums that blend emo, post-hardcore, and hard rock. Led by vocalist Gerard Way alongside his brother Mikey Way on bass, Ray Toro on lead guitar, and Frank Iero on rhythm guitar, the band broke through with Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in 2004 and reached mainstream success with the rock opera The Black Parade in 2006. Their catalog spans four studio albums, moving from the raw post-hardcore of the debut through the glam-inflected Danger Days. The band split in March 2013 before reuniting in October 2019.
