V is Maroon 5's fifth studio album, released August 29, 2014, through 222 and Interscope Records, the band's first release on Interscope after leaving A&M Octone. The album continues and deepens the pop songwriting-room approach established on Overexposed, with Max Martin, Shellback, Ryan Tedder, and other professional writers dominating the credits. 'Maps' reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100, 'Animals' peaked at number three, and 'Sugar' became the band's longest-charting Hot 100 entry. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with 164,000 first-week sales, the band's best opening week at the time, and was certified triple platinum in the US. The guest feature on 'My Heart Is Open' marks one of only a handful of major-name collaborations embedded directly in the album tracks rather than added as singles, featuring Sia at the peak of her commercial power.
